Cute place, decent burger. Why 4 stars? Can't do 4.5 Heinz ketchup. Yup. As healthy as I like to be by avoiding HFCS and eating "whole foods" , I found it disappointing that if I wanted ketchup, I'd have to anoint it with a toxin. Boars Head meats - huge plus.

This place serves absolutely giant omelettes and an offensive amount of home fries, but just because it's big, doesn't mean it's good. The quality of food is in no way up to par with its competition. While their peers use fresh, local products, I have no doubt they are the ones unloading from the Sysco truck. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but there is little to no variety here. We asked on one occasion for some fresh fruit, they don't serve fruit. In today's world, that's a little crazy. Pancakes, eggs, and sausage can only go so far. The coffee is decent I guess. The service is usually ok, except for one time we went.

A good Downtown GJ spot for lunch or breakfast. Typical diner style fare served with some sass. The reuben is really good as is the chicken fried steak. Love it. The only thing that keeps me from eating there more often is their hash browns/home fries with the chicken fried steak. I like the more traditional shredded hash browns and I like them crispy. Their "hash browns" are soft and mushy. Offer both =) please The service can be a bit slow but it is not a fast food restaurant and the prices are good!

Ignore the negative reviews from out-of-town mung-for-brains and douche bag hipsters: this place is dynamite for breakfast.

My daughter goes to Mesa University and I came out for a visit. She had heard that this place was yummy, and she heard right. For the price it was perfect. Nothing fancy, but an old time diner with Elvis Memorabilia on the walls. Had a 50's diner atmosphere. The waitress we had was super nice and accomodating to our needs. I ordered a Fried Egg Sandwich and my daughter had an omelet and we were both very satisfied. I will definitely return. If you're looking for a fancy breakfast place, this is not it, if you're looking for a non-chain, 50's-diner atmosphere, then this is your place. They had all the 50's music playing, and it looked like a lot of locals were coming in on a weekday. My daughter heard the weekends it was a lot more busy.

Main Street Cafe is a place you can come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and find something to make you happy. As a 50s diner, they are definitely known to make AWESOME milkshakes (3 full scoops in each one), root beer floats, or whatever else you want in that genre. This isn't an innovate brunch place, this is basic diner breakfast at it's best. We sat outside and had Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs as well as a Breakfast Burrito. Of course with a Chocolate Milk Shakes. With 50s music playing in the background, it's hard to go wrong. I'd come back here at night for burgers and shakes as well, but we ran out of time.

Their burgers are named after old celebs like Elvis and James Dean. The Bogart. The Big Bopper. :)

My entire family loved it. Great coffee and for myself the grand Mesa omelette was perfect. I would recommend this highly.

Great breakfast! Stopped on the way from Moab to Denver and had a fantastic early breakfast. Best squeezed OJ I've had in a long time and a huge and tasty Mexican breakfast egg burrito. Highly recommend.

Typical 50s diner setup and cuisine. The food is good but the malt was sub par and barely mixed. On that note, the fries are superb. Good for a quick bite if you're pekish on main street.

It was good, solid breakfast food. I got eggs, bacon, hash browns and pancakes, and it was good. I sat outside on a Sunday morning (nice that it wasn't busy).

Just met my family there and had the best lunch. Light and fun atmosphere. Excellent service, server was kind enough to stop and take our picture during the lunch rush. Food was terrific. May be my new favorite place when I come to Grand Junction.

This place was amazing! The best breakfast place I've ever been to. If you're going anywhere NEAR here, stop by! Such friendly service, deicious food, and coffee that was just right.

This place is not good. I had a country club sandwich and it didn't have much flavor. I've never had a sandwich that didn't really taste like anything. Until I came here. My husband had a tuna melt and it was very obviously burnt. Not surprisingly, it didn't taste good at all. The fries that came with our meals had a weird burnt taste as well. The only good thing about this place was that the waitress was friendly.

I visited this place in June, 2014. My original review was harsh and I was called out on it by the owner on Trip Advisor, so I am rewording it. I really only had one complaint with the place (which I will explain at the end), and I agree with the owner that I was harsh. I am certainly not rewriting it because I felt intimidated by the owner; I am rewording it because the owner was correct and I was, indeed, too harsh for a simple mistake. This is a cute place in the middle of the little downtown strip (plenty of parking all up and down the street). There's nice outdoor seating area and the inside had a cute diner-ish décor. The place seemed nice and clean. I had a grilled cheese and it was ok - decent - like the kind you would get in the old 60s five and dime stores. I also had an AWESOME vanilla malt. The cole slaw that came with my grilled cheese was very good! The service was very good and the prices were very reasonable. Here's where my complaint comes in: My friend and I are both vegetarians. I am a vegetarian because eating a dead animal is gross to me. That's my choice. My friend ordered the VEGGIE Elvis. When she got it, it was a REAL meat patty (the veggie Elvis was supposed to be a VEGGIE burger). We stared at it a while because it was smothered in cheese, so we weren't exactly sure what was under all that cheese. As soon as she cut it, she knew it was real meat. We called the server back over, and she quickly whisked it away. A real veggie Elvis came out within few minutes and my friend enjoyed it. Everybody makes mistakes, and I understand that - someone just wasn't paying attention. The thing is, when you are served something that is gross to you (meat), it kinda ruins the meal. So that is why I wrote a harsh review. But, it was an innocent mistake, so that's that. Our service was very good and the server was quick to correct the mistake. Again, delicious cole slaw and BEST malt ever!

I had the veggie burrito and it was really good. Husband had bacon eggs and potato. The potatoes were just ok they came out cold. The bacon was also cold but really good bacon. Reported this to the waitress and she took very good care of us. Would like to come here again sometime.

You have now publicly harassed me after privately harassing me twice. As already explained you have to wrong patron. I know nothing of the "girls" that you PM'd about. The review is an honest reflection upon the service and treatment experienced from this establishment. Unfortunately it is apparent that this business has done this to more than one individual as you are having a hard time keeping track of whom you have denied service to.

Always fun! Great waitresses, great service, typical burger joint menu. Still I go often because it offers both indoor and outdoor dinning convenient location at 5th and Main and simple but good food and fast service!

What an adorable 50's diner. Great breakfast. We were passing through on a motorcycle trip and thanks to yelp we found another gem. They have home made corned beef hash and fresh squeezed OJ. Definitely worth any slight detour you might need to make. Do yourself a favor and stop and try this place.

The Main Street Cafe in Grand Junction is a great 50s style cafe with records, photos, poodle skirts and other memorable covering the walls. With plenty of character and lots of chrome this place belongs on Historic Route 66! My wife and I ate here for breakfast last week and really enjoyed their breakfast burritos with green chili. They were delicious! Service was prompt and our waitress was friendly. I would definitely eat here again.

Love, love, love this place!! I eat here all the time and have won a couple free lunches with my business card. The fries are always hot and the service is friendly. I get the same thing and it's always consistent.

Yummy yummy yummy. Great food. Friendly staff. Cool decor. It's located in an old retail space and they've put tables in the windows. Totally cool place.

Food was okay, stuff you would eat if ya had a hangover. Service was just okay a little slow, but accurate. Ambiance is neat and 50's like. Just an average cafe with some 50's feel to it.

let me start out by saying I am from the east coast.. home of the best diners and this little diner is a ok by my bench mark. the food was great the service was awesome, nice warm friendly staff and the up front window seating is pretty cool. all around great little place will definitely be going back

Wonderful 50's style dinner. You can tell this place has been well loved due to the sagging imprints of diners past on most of the booths. Pleasant coat hangers between the booths for winter months, and lots of 50's decor to keep your eyes busy through your meal. Yes: Tasty bacon, tasty toast, eggs done to order, & AMAZING shakes. If you're there for Lunch/Dinner the Elvis Burger is a must try. Open faced, ooey gooey, deliciousness. Eh: Awkward home fries - not really that much flavour unless extra crispy.

Try the Junction scramble with the homemade hot sauce for breakfast! Just make sure they don't forget to put your order in, last time it took 40 minutes for my breakfast to get to the table because the girl spaced out.

How can you not love this charming, GJ staple? It's your basic diner menu, but it definitely delivers and there is something nostalgic about the décor that has been the same for-ev-er. We almost always go for the Unskillet (green chili over their café potatoes and eggs, topped with shredded cheddar) and it never disappoints. The coffee could be better, but I generally feel that way about diner coffee...

Chicken Fried Steak. Played the oldies. Outdoor patio. Walls covered in 50's and 60's memorabilia. Great wait service. Classic booths, tables and chairs.

If you can't tell from my reviews, I love Diners. Generally good food and reasonable prices and best of all, supporting local business. Main Street Cafe is a nice spot with good food, reasonable prices. Nifty retro decor down to tables and chairs. Right in nice area in Grand Junction, CO. Main St. Grand Junction has lots of interesting shops, public art and several brewpubs. Of course, if you're spending any time in Junction, you should definitely check out Colorado National Monument and Grand Mesa. Grand Junction has a terrific location. You have desert environment, rafting, hiking, mountain biking, camping...all world class.

Nice little 50s-style diner, complete with 50s music and period Americana dotted about. My wife had a veggie scramble, my daughter had bacon & french toast and I had the "Meggsican" (mexi-ish breakfast burrito). All 3 were pretty good, especially the french toast. Also, excellent malts :-) Would definitely return.

Besides the nice patio and cool diner vibe I can't really recommend this place. Service was slow and the food was just average. We had breakfast so I might try the place again for lunch or a casual dinner, but the first visit was unremarkable.

Guacamole specialty burger was excellent. Fries were very good too. Great service. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place. I'm from California so I have no local interest in this place - we were on a road trip and decided to eat here. It was great.

Lovely lunch yesterday. The 15 bean soup was yummy as well as the grilled ham and cheese. Hubby enjoyed his tuna melt. The three of us split a butterscotch shake. What a lovely, inexpensive place to dine with family members. The music isn't too loud and we enjoyed looking at the memorabilia on the walls.

Your regular 50s style diner. They had some patio seats outside and the food was A-OK.

It's a shame that it's not open all the time. The burgers, fries and shakes are amazing! Not pricey at all for the quality and freshness of the food. Waitresses usually seem friendly and helpful. I'm always intrigued with all the stuff from my grandparents childhood that decorates the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this to anybody, they have a wide selection of entrees to choose from. If it's your first time, don't get scared when the chef yells out "PEGGY SUE!!!", her order's just ready to be picked up, probably...

i was worried that all these reviews seem old, but we stopped at the Main Street Cafe on our way from Denver to Moab and it was a worthwhile stop. The vegetarian selections were good (i had the veg reuben that was made with a veggie burger with sauerkraut and swiss), the milkshakes were rich and creamy (and they give u the extra shake in the can) and the place was cute as a button. Good service too, check the hours though we were there at around 3pm and they were getting ready to close. GOOD STUFF. retro diner vibe. cool downtown main street - a little off the highway path, which is good and bad.

We spent a pleasant few hours walking around the small downtown section of Grand Junction on a weekday in 10/06 and it had some cute shops & eateries. We happily discovered the wonderful Main Street Cafe (a diner - and I'm a MAJOR diner fan). It was 3:55 p.m. and they were closing at 4:00 p.m. (note that their hours are 7-4 on Monday-Saturday and 7-3 on Sundays), but the server who was cleaning up beckoned us in and said it was no problem at all. We were almost shocked to hear that the Main Street was only six years old, because it had the look & feel of a much older place (and that's a big compliment). Our portobello mushroom sandwiches (on rye) were delicious & reasonably-priced, plus my husband's large iced tea only cost $1.25 and he received two refills.

Fun little spot that does up the theme really well with all their 50's decor and music. Our waitress was great. Everyone in our party liked their meal choices, and my hot fudge sundae was yummmm! I like that they try to use fresh local ingredients...way to go, y'all.

Maybe I caught them on an off day, but this was a horrible breakfast. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and potatoes. The potatoes were rather bland and tasted "left over". They were warm, with a very slight flavor of potato, and looked like they had been sitting on the flat top in a corner for quite a while. The eggs were way over cooked and had a dark brown burn on one side of the eggs. Of course, this was the side that was served on the bottom. The bacon was hard, cold, and rather stale. I sent the bacon back and the waitress came out near the end of our meal with some bacon that was less stale. I observed the waitress handling money, using a touch screen that everyone else was using, and picking at her ear. She then headed over and grabbed two pieces of bread and sent them through the toaster. She then delivered them to my table for my enjoyment. I can not eat here again due to the picture I have of the ear picking and toast handling...... The coffee was bad, but not the worst I've experienced. My wife liked her cheeseburger. The salad was fresh but nothing special,

Got a hummus wrap. They didn't ask what kind of hummus & I assumed regular, plain hummus but it was some kind of spiced hummus plus there was a lot of oil in the wrap so it was dripping. I also asked for added avocado which they didn't put on. Not good but OK ish, I guess.

This is the second time we visited here on our way to Vegas. The service is excellent, they keep the coffee flowing (which means a PIT STOP later), We had breakfast. I had a cheese omelet wihich was very large.served with a thick slab of ham,My wife had the MUFFIN which is 2 halves of english muffin, 2 eggs, ham and cheese, The portions are large and taste good, The 50's atmoshpere is fun. Great place will go back again when next in town..

Not overly impressed. Fun ambience and friendly service but very middle-of-the-road diner food. House potatoes lacked flavour, toast was soggy, eggs were lackluster.

I went in for breakfast, and my fiancé had lunch. I have to say I was a little disappointed with what I ordered. I got the 'Meggisican' breakfast, which was basically a sausage and egg burrito with green chile and cheese on top. I don't remember if there were potatoes in it or not, or if there were supposed to be. Either way, it wasn't anything special. My fiancé had a dog and fries. He was a bit upset because he just assumed it came with sweet relish (which he likes) but it was actually dill (which I like) and he didn't realize it until he spread it all over the thing. Not really anyone's fault entirely. The fries here are not good. They have no flavor at all. They are kind of different on the outside, and nice and moist in the middle but that's about all I can say about them. All and all I'm sure I'd try this place at least once more before writing it off entirely next time I am in town, but to be honest, it definitely wasn't the best 'diner' food I've ever had... and you would think diner food would be hard to mess it up, but apparently not. The service was good and the place was clean.

We arrived on Farmers Market Thursday. I had a very yummy chef salad with Boar's Head brand meat. I really wanted to get an ice cream something but I was just too full and frankly it was too hot to get over stuffed. Overall, a very enjoyable meal.

The good: This is a wonderful downtown1950s-style diner run by terrific people. Their food is fresh, made with the best ingredients and tasty. The atmosphere is spacious and welcoming and the prices are very fair. The service is fast and the portions are adequate; not too much, not too little. We like the brisket plate -- tender, juicy brisket. You can't really get something like that anywhere else in town. If you're in doubt, go. Take note that they round their checks up or down to the nearest nickel. Evan, the owner, hates pennies.

Driving though Grand Junction on a road trip my mobile yelp pointed me to this place for breakfast. The reviews turned out to be spot on with great, inexpensive food. I had some sort of breakfast burrito thing that had plenty of chorizo and spice. Way better then the average truck stop fair you can find on the road. Service was speedy and nice with what seemed like a huge staff running around.

I should start by saying breakfast is my FAVORITE meal of the day. My boy and I recently moved to Grand Junction, and this is one of the first places we ate. Great breakfast food, and pretty decent burgers as well. And if you love shakes, get one here, YUMMMM!!!
